The government of the Republic of Somaliland on Wednesday placed all passengers arriving on aboard Ethiopian Airlines on a 14-days quarantine period in undisclosed.

The government’s action is part of the implementation of the directives issued by the National Committee for the Preparedness and Prevention of COVID-1.

One porter who is suspected to have touched suitcases belonging to the quarantined Ethiopian Airlines passengers was also placed under the mandatory at Egal Airport.

None of the arriving Ethiopian passengers were checked by medical staff at the Egal Airport tested positive and were transferred to an undisclosed holding location, where they will spend the next 14 days being monitored by medical staff for any coronavirus-related symptoms.

On the other hand, all public gatherings and events have been banned in adherence with the directives of the National Committee for the Preparedness and Prevention of COVID-19.

Telesom and Somtel, the two main telecommunication companies are taking part in the delivery of health messages to the public.
