Nicholas Kay

Mogadishu, 7 April 2014 – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, Nicholas Kay, condemned the murder today of two UN consultants working for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The two international consultants were in Galkayo to support UNODC efforts in the region when they were shot by unknown gunmen at Galkayo Airport, Puntland, Somalia.

“I condemn the brutal murders. Our UN colleagues were working in support of the Somali people’s aspiration for a peaceful and stable future. There can be no justification for such a callous attack. I call on the authorities to conduct a full investigation immediately and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay. I offer my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The United Nations in Somalia remains committed to continuing our vital support to the Somali people as they emerge from decades of conflict” said SRSG Kay.

  1. Condolences to the families and friends.

The UN paid for the bullets, Shouldn't Nicky Kay assume more accountability?

Mr Kay is aware that Terrorists are being driven North wards into Galkaciyo, Gerowe and Bossasso but UN staff are expected to work in unsafe territories.

100s of Pirates have escaped from prisons in Bossasso has Mr Kay taken measures to safeguard other UN staff? Many pirates have been executed in cold blood, their family members are after revenge and any foreigner will be considered a target.

  2. If the UN is honest, they could have protected the Somali coast from those raoming thieves from the West and Asia who are scooping our marine resources illegally for the last 20+ yrs. I am not condoning any extrajudicial killings in our soil or anywhre else in the world, but you always get what you sow.

  3. The UN is a corupt organisation wich should be banned in Somaliland. This people will create chaos to gain profits. Their big Airplanes are world known for transporting weapon to some of the worst dicators in the world. Anything to protect their countries intrest and keep African people poor.
Turkey dont trust them either and send their money directly to Somalia. This is what many Europiens have been seing for a long time, but i didnt belive them until now.
