The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Cirro), today conducted a working visit to the General Command Headquarters of the Somaliland National Armed Forces (SNAF).
This inspection was one in which the President was keenly interested in following up on the progress of the activities of the SNAF.
During his stay at the General Command Headquarters, the President held a meeting with the Commander of the Armed Forces, Major General Nimaan Yusuf Osman (Gaaxnuug), and high-ranking military officers. He listened to a comprehensive briefing on the overall situation of the SNAF, their needs, and the development plans. The President stated that the meetings he holds with the National Armed Forces will be regular.
The President commended the National Armed Forces for the crucial work they do for the country and for always being vigilant in defending their nation and its people. He emphasized that the Somaliland National Armed Forces are the most vital pillar of statehood and national existence. The President affirmed that the modernization of training and equipment for the Armed Forces will be strengthened, in order to maintain public confidence and fulfill the constitutional duties of the military.
Furthermore, the President announced that the construction of housing units for the National Armed Forces will commence, a matter that was included in the President’s election campaign promises. Similarly, the President confirmed that the promotion of military officers who have reached their due promotion period will be implemented soon.
Finally, the President of the Republic of Somaliland presented certificates to several military personnel who had completed various training courses abroad.
This inspection was a clear demonstration of how the President of the Republic of Somaliland gives top priority to building a modern National Army, which is fully capable of safeguarding the security and defense of the Republic of Somaliland.
