The meeting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Mahmoud Hayir Du’ale, alongside committee members and staff. According to the Somali presidency, the talks centered on the regional security landscape, ongoing military offensives against al-Shabab, and the expansion of bilateral defense ties.
President Mohamud expressed gratitude to Washington for its continued military and security assistance, underscoring that U.S. support has been pivotal in strengthening the Somali National Army and advancing stability and development. “The cooperation between Somalia and the United States continues to play a significant role in strengthening the capabilities of the Somali National Army and promoting security, stability and development,” he said.
