I am Somali boy in war-torn ravaged home,

where my people eradicate each other just for the throne.

Blood is way cheaper than water for them to spill.

With pernicious guns and grenades each other they kill.

 

My peers in other world are centuries ahead of me.

And I am here uneducated, striving to set me free.

My dear mother was hit by a huge blazing shell.

Our daily life was from the tomatoes she used to sell.

 

My sister got dismissed from school because of the fee.

She was intelligent but who spared moment to see???

My daddy was a drug-addict and robber in street.

When something went wrong he would torture us and beat.

 

 

In a faithful morning we were notified his death,

after fusillade of bullet riddled him below the head.

It was so tragic to me and so much worse than a thunder.

For, he’d at least sponsored me when no one didn’t bother.

 

As a poor unlearned Somali boy, I still polish the shoes.

I could have been a millionaire, a politician on the news.

My clan is better is what tore my great country apart.

And let predators towards them make a cunning dart.

 

We paid allegiance to tribalism which caused disarray,

and shrouded women and children in layers of dismay.

And, some of those fled, get discriminated every day.

Mercilessly stoned to death, on street, while they lay

 

We were once the Irish of East Africa and hope to be again.

Pick the threads of our life and from tribalism abstain.

I pray future generation won’t see the same years of pain.

The same anguish I suffered, the same scholars get slain.

  2. Brother i'm from Somaliland and I want prosperity for my country but not at the cost of blood from another Muslim. I remember the civil war and all the bodies and remember saying to myself I can never become the very people I hated. The only way brother Halyey for us to succeed is to become better the than the oppressor not equal to or less then but BETTER. Don't wish no death even though they pray for ill thoughts to happen again to other Muslims (Somaliland). We need to strive for better equality in Somaliland, easier access to medical treatment and clean water and subsidies food program. We need to have clean pure hearts for Somaliland for our sake for our people for our land.

  3. Abdul-fatah, I am very proud to see our beloved nation of Somaliland establish almost single-handedly successful national reconciliation, democtratic institutions, freedoms and a constitutions. Islam recquires us to take/ exact just revenge from those Somalis (daarood-doofaar and hawiye Afar-qooble) who commited all the genocides in a grand scheme to eradicate the great and noble nation of Shiek Isxaaq Binu Ahmed in order to occupy our land. In order to teach the aggressors a lesson, they must taste what suffering is. Only after thawe can move forward. Mind you, remnants of Faqash forces are still active in Taleeh. They are still commited to their aggression. They devoted active websights and war of propogands for that. They still claim whole regions of Somaliland and call them selves SSC (Sanaag, Sool and parts of Togdheer they named Cayn. In these three regions the majority population belong to the great nation of Reer Shiekh Isxaaq, yet these Faqash forces spread lies and their educated fellows write almost daily to the UN, AU, IGad and EU claiming those three regions. stop self defeating yourself, while youth of the faqash forces actively preparing to re-occupy your land. Islam says: YOUR REVENGE ON YOUR ENEMY MUST BE SIMILAR TO THE AGGRESSION THEY COMMITED AGAINST YOU.

    My advice to you: Stop day dreaming about a just wrold. You become better than your enemy after you exacted revenge and moved on to build a better future for you and your nation. Islam does not tell you to day dream or stay passive and turn the other cheak. That will be only cowardness that will surely encourage faqash aggressors to run all over you. You are certainly a gifted peot, but the material of your poems must reflect the literature of Somaliland war of liberation against the aggressors—Somalis. What Irish?!!!!!!! They are the poorest and weakest nation in Europe. Ask the British about that. We are proud and patriotic Somalilanders (not Somalis).

  5. My brothers, first of all, let me say i appreciate all your comments but there is one thing i would like to make clear. The poem had an introduction eloborating why i composed it and everything but i am afraid the owners of this website have deleted. And that is what caused u to have anegative view about me. The poem is not about me and i just wrote it so that it could atleast raise awareness regarding the considereble numbers of children deprived the right to own access to education and shape their future. Thanxxx
