Hargeisa, October 12, 2025 – The Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland has initiated a major conference to evaluate and improve the nation’s public hospital system. The event, officially opened by Minister Dr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, brings together hospital directors from all regions to assess service delivery, address challenges, and formulate strategies for advancement.

The conference aims to conduct a comprehensive review of healthcare standards, identify persistent obstacles, and accelerate the modernization of public health services. A key focus will be on strengthening hospital management and operational efficiency.

In his opening address, Minister Dr. Hirsi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to high-quality, modern healthcare for all citizens. “Our mission is to strengthen service quality across the board to ensure every citizen has access to efficient and contemporary healthcare,” the Minister stated.

The Ministry’s Director-General, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, pledged full support to hospital administrators in achieving these goals, emphasizing the implementation of strategic development plans.

Minister Dr. Hirsi concluded by directing hospital directors to prioritize critical areas, including patient care, the response to emergency disease outbreaks, and the maintenance of strict hygiene protocols in all medical facilities.
