Hargeisa, Somaliland – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (irro), today held a strategic meeting with the Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Steen Sonne Andersen, at the Presidential Palace.
The President expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador and the Government of Denmark for their consistent support to Somaliland in the areas of development, economic infrastructure, public institutions, and technical support for the electoral process and democratization.
The President emphasized that the Republic of Somaliland is committed to strengthening and expanding the relations between the two countries, particularly in the fields of security cooperation, economy, social services, and development programs.
For his part, the Danish Ambassador congratulated the President and his Government on the successful peacebuilding and stabilization efforts in the eastern regions of Somaliland, particularly the city of Wrigavo.
The Ambassador underscored that his government will continue its support for Somaliland in the areas of peacebuilding, the development of economic infrastructure, and strengthening institutions crucial for good governance.
Furthermore, Ambassador Andersen highlighted Denmark’s development programs and the major projects it is undertaking in Somaliland. He also discussed with the President the progress of the electoral process and the democratization project in the Republic of Somaliland.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to continue working together on issues of peace, stability, and development in the Horn of Africa region.
