MACRILEX (Maritime Criminal Justice Chain) exercise, organized by EUCAP, EU NAVFOR and UNODC, kicked off today in Mogadishu. 21 participants (3 of them women) from the Somali Police Force (CID, Interpol NCB and the Maritime Police Unit) will attend a 6-day exercise, which aims to strengthen the Somali criminal justice chain through a scenario-based exercise by identifying weaknesses (e.g. material gaps, capacity gaps, normative gaps) and strengths in the criminal justice chain and by increasing interaction across professional groups and learning from each other.

On day 1, participants discussed the legislative framework in Somalia, identifying numerous areas of development as well as reaching consensus on the interpretations of existing norms.
