Somaliland authorities arrested and questioned the UK based anti khat campaigner Mr. Abukar Awale popularly known Qaad-diid today.
The UK based anti khat campaigner Mr. Abukar Awale popularly known Qaad-diid was expected to address a meeting on next Saturday to be held at the Mansoor Hotel this week on the adverse effects of drug which is widely consumed in the country has being put off.
Mr. Abukar Awale Qaad-diid was arrested earlier today by C.I.D officers who took him to the criminal investigation department for questioning regarding to his connections with the militant group.
The anti khat campaigner is said to be a leading fundraiser and campaigner for the militant Khatuumo led by the renegade Dr. Ali Khalf Galydh and can be seen lobbying for group in numerous pro Khatumo YUOTUBE clips.
Mr. Abukar Awale and khat have now become so synonymous that a nickname has been coined for him in the Somali community, Qaad-diid, or the one who rejects khat in all its forms is a moniker that reflects Abukar Awale’s long and tireless campaign against the stimulus drug and the fact that the sale and use of khat has been recently banned in the UK is something Qaad-diid and his team.
