Hargeisa – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), today convened a mediation meeting between the Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) and the KAAH Party to resolve the disagreement arising from the NEC’s recent decision regarding Voter Registration, specifically the option concerning the number of registration centers, which had led the KAAH Party to suspend its cooperation with the Commission.

Following extensive dialogue and mediation led by the President, both parties have formally ended the disagreement between them. They jointly expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic of Somaliland for his crucial role in bringing together the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and the KAAH Party.

Furthermore, to advance the significant tasks ahead for the NEC and the Political Parties, both sides have agreed on the following points:

  1. To formally restore cooperation between the NEC and the KAAH Party.
  2. That the technical issues underlying the stalemate between the two sides will be actively addressed by a technical committee composed of members from both parties.
  3. To expedite the finalization of outstanding matters; the two sides will convene another meeting after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The Republic of Somaliland upholds a longstanding and positive tradition of resolving political differences through dialogue, mutual compromise, and seeking solutions internally, without external reliance.
