The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E President Muse Bihi Abdi and his delegation arrived in the country today from the United Arab Emirates.

The President and his delegation upon their arrival was welcomed by with members of the Council of Ministers, representatives of opposition parties, Marodi Jeh regional administration officials and ministerial departmental heads and other government officials.

Prof. Yassin Haji Mahamoud Hir (Faratoon), Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation speaking to reporters said, “The President of the Republic of Somaliland and the United Arab Emirates officials during his visit discussed a wide range of matters among them the importance of focusing on issues of bilateral relations and cooperation on enhancing security in the Horn of Africa,.

He added, “As you’re well aware to terrorist related activities are on the rise in the region and ways of countering such undertakings were among the key points of discussion between the Somaliland delegation and UAE officials.

The foreign affairs minister revealed that they also agreed upon other matters apart from the reinforcement security such as the need to develop the our economy and the Republic of Somaliland and the United Arab Emirates will in the near future establish a joint livestock export venture. The joint venture will be tasked with the export of livestock to countries in the Middle East and other regions of the world meant to increase the nation’s revenue. The other important issue was ways of strengthening the Somaliland boosts the central bank’s ability to rein in inflation and increases its capital at a time of volatility in financial markets and bolstering state revenues, he said.

On the other hand, foreign affairs minister said, “We and the UAE official also reached an agreement on the usage of the Berbera airport, the airport will be used for civil and commercial purposes and not only military only.
