Nairobi -Prof. Yassin Mahmoud Hiir “Fratoon”, Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has dismissed as false and baseless reports carried by a section of the media alleging that the Federal Government of Ethiopia has frozen the development of the Berbera port which it holds 19% in tripartite investment between the governments of Ethiopia, Somaliland, and DPW and in turn, developing a port in Sudan that will be an optional sea outlet.
Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prof. Yassin Mahmoud Hiir “Fratoon” currently on a working visit covering the East African countries informed the state-owned newspaper “DAWAN” said that the thronged deal signed by the Republic of Somaliland, the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the Dubai Worlds Ports still stands.
He added, “We have discussed with our Ethiopian counterparts regarding the issue and they confirmed that there is no changes, The agreement is bidding, the two countries are working together. As for the news carried by a section of the Ethiopian news media outlet is false and without merit whatsoever
The Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs further stated the Ethiopian news outlet which reported the story must provide the sources of its story, and since the Ethiopian government has dismissed those reports, it translates to misinformation said, the Foreign Minister.
