Both are used in herbal medicines, essential oils and perfume, not to mention its importance use in religious ceremonies. All religions often incorporate frankincense and myrrh into traditions

Derived from sap of trees, both frankincense and myrrh were prized for their fragrance. – See more at: http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/news/119624/investment-ideas-gold-frankincense-and-myrrh.aspx#sthash.MCVQTTEn.dpufand we hope at the end of this forum we shall be able to come up with ways to develop the Frankincense and Myrrh industry for sustainable economic and for the international export market apart from the other commodities we export such livestock and hides.Lastly the International Investment Minister Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Omer said, “The Somaliland government shall continue to promote the production of the cash crop and any investments towards the sector; he also thanked the World Bank for their contribution and their support towards the industry and on behalf of the people of Somaliland I extend our profound gratitude to SOFRECO for availing to us their expertise in of consultancy and technical assistance for sustainable economic and development of the sector not forgetting the Ministry of Rural development , Businessmen , those elders whose knowledge on the matter has proven to be so valuable.

  1. This important commodity enterprise is grown in the Sanaag Regional province.
he GOSL should focus more attentions in developing the Sanaag Regions and other equally
important northeastern provinces to have fair equal footings with the Northwestern provinces
viz the Capital Hargeisa m'jeh and beyond. Kudos to this highly economical project.
    cheers.

  2. This shows just how biblical our economy is. Our main export are fat-tailed sheep, frankincense and Myrrh. We need to diversify. We need to develop sectors like services, tourism, desert farming and hospitality and catering. It is true that an institutionally racist world is clipping our wings at every step but we are not even trying to fledge. Take tourism. We have some of the most virgin, unexplored coves on earth. We have the empty vastnesses of our countryside. Here si an idea: why not set up an internal industry first. Start with small camping company where yopu take tourists to spend few days an nights with nomads. You set a little tent outside nomad homesateds, cook over open fire, sleep under those majestic skies, wake up to tea and lahoh and help the nomads during the day.

You buy a sheep or a goat for slaughter from the nomad who hosts you. simpel ideas like that can be developed.

Would the salafists taking over the place allow this kind of activity?

      • I hope so Somalilander. The damage this saudi-mind-screwed motrons are doing to our culture is actually ten times worse than what Siyad Barre did to us. Somaliland appears like a foreign country sometimes.

Did you see what thge Salfis Sheik Khalil just did to our reputation? Read the article about FGM. Lets just hope world media does not pick up this story because if it does it will do us no good at all. Worse PR disaster than Waran Cadde's 'Animal Zu' episode.

Ilma Libaax Liqe bros and sis please dont roar at me. I like Waran Cadde a lot. He is a competent minister.

  3. To hell with tourists how about we try to develop our economy to the point where everything we need is produced for the most part in the country. We supply each other first stop importing everything from overseas and invest in building our own products/industries. That will take time and sustained effort but our children will thank us for it.

Somaliland Coke, Laundry detergent, computers, cars, with all the camels and cows we have why in the world are we importing baby formula?

  4. Especially from countries like China who could careless what they put into baby formula, if you havent heard of the latest recalls.
