  1. This is so ridiculous there is no freedom of speech, the media cannot be blamed for the mess in the country, when are we going to stop placing the blame. I hope Baynah is released soon…

  2. This is beyond ridiculous. What happened to FREEDOM OF SPEECH? Reporters arrested by CID? Those are the kind of tactics we can only expect from the government of a former NSS officer…

  3. Sometimes i laught when i heard words like freedom of speach and democracy. I think we somalis are trying to do something that we don’t know more about it.

Maybe we should revisit democracy and how other people uses it. This is Africa not Canada and Uk. My way or the highway is the way of life in Africa; therefore; Riyal’s government is no different.

Every African leader want to be in power for ever untill he is dead. You should same yourself, cities and your people from a wounded african lion who don’t want to go unless he cause you everything.

Mr. Riyal would go and he should go but the future of Somalis in Somaliland is at risk. Somalilanders made it big mistakes when they protected criminals instead of bringing them to justice. The good thing I don’t live there but I am worrying my family back home.

    • Ramadaan Kariim,
Freedom of speech iyo sheekada intaad iska dhaaftaan, reer SOMALILAND maad ninkan iska qabataan iyo inta ku daba dhuumanaysa. Sidaad sheekteenba meeshan waxa ka socda waa diktaatooriyad. Hadaba hora loo yidhi ninki waran kaagu galo ayay weedhaaduna gashaaye. xabad in lagaga qaado weeyaan

  4. Ayanle, i agree with you, this is Africa but then again, why do we have to accept the dictatorship like the other African countries.
Anyways Riyale is not alone in the government, i think a lot of people are just blaming him, what about those in his party/government for example Vice Prst et.
If their not being asked about this type of shit then they are as guilty as Riayle , sorry him self. I want them to be accountable as much as the president. This shit really gets on my nerve. For years iv been advocating the democracy Somaliland has and now all that’s just being destroyed. Am not too old and feel riyale and his hench men are sucking the “hope” out OF Somailland

  5. in xamar, there was freedom of press, freedom of expression the last 20 years. all somali clans, sub-clans and sub-sub-clans have their own radio stations. they use the media for propaganda and hate, which fueled the 20 year civil war in southern Somalia.

is this the purpose of media?

in somaliland, we don't want media if it puts us in war like in southern somalia.
    Long Live Somaliland

  6. There was no question the guy who was arrested today was always reporting things that is damaging to Somaliland. To be a true reporter one has to be an Impartial reporter but in Somaliland this is not the case you are either for Government or againest. These will not take the causes Somaliland people died for anywhere.
For god sake, you do not have recoginition as citizen of the world, forget freedom of speech and these crubs please. pay attention to what you have build for the last eighteen years find a way to protect instead of talking or writing nonsense.

  7. Step down Riyale,

Such brutality of detained journalist and reporters are being repeated much frequently in this year. Journalists, reporters and publishers are still targeted by the Riyal’s administration (Faqash). Mr: Abdiqani I salute your dedication to seek and tell the truth. Recognize this war as a war between dictatorship and the media and over the public. Riyale keep in mind that free and strengthened press can promote popular culture of participatory democracy. Basic human rights, coexistence, tolerance and peace.

    Stop not thinking Mr: Riyale.

  10. H. M. Obsiye,
For report Abdiqani Baynax to write about the truth and what is taking place in Somaliland does not constitute he is anti-Somaliland. Reporter Baynax is in the front line so that he can bring the news to the rest of us who are not currently in Somaliland and therefore we are greatefull for his work. So Mr. Obsiye next time that you write such an insult to Mr. Baynax or any other reporter who are putting their neck out so that they can bring the news to us please think twice.

    Thanks
    M.Guled

  11. In a current situation where Somaliland does not enjoy recognition like the rest of free world, to write negative report about Somalilander Government is nothing but individual selfishness, please, think about the consiquencies of your negative reporting and what it does to the Image of this Country that has yet received recognition from any country, do not just look at who is sitting on the ruling chair BUT, look at how the enemies of Somaliland will turn any negative reporting into Somaliland bashing.
What some of these reporter are doing is nothing but the mouth piece of Somaliland enemies.
Long live Somaliland and it's people.

  12. Reporters should just report what they see. What we need clean report that doesn’t support or agaist anyone. In other word be neutral.

Obsiya you want to filter the news and you always want to hear the good things in S.land and arrested anyone who report negative reports you consider an enemy. I don’t know this particular reporter and why he end up this way.

Like it or not anything that happen should be report and if you report false reports, you are on your own.

  13. Obsiya,
We at SomalilandPress can say it loud and clear that we are the only Somaliland owned site that is fair and balance. Brother do not forget that Somaliland is also our country and that we do our very best to publish a positive image of Somaliland. If you ever receive a Google News Alert you will see that in front of all our news (Hargeisa, Somaliland). We at SomalilandPress had to write a personal letters several times just so that Google can differentiate Somaliland/Somalia. We will do our very best to report the news as it happens bro, like it or not.

    Cheers
