A young woman in Hargeisa is fighting for her life after a horrifying attack in which her former partner doused her in fuel and set her alight, before turning the flames on himself in an apparent murder-suicide attempt.
The victim, identified as Salma Abdirisaq Osman—widely known as Salma Aburaas—remains in critical condition at the city’s main hospital. The assailant is currently receiving treatment at Barayfada Hospital, where military personnel have been stationed to guard him. Security sources confirm this heavy security presence is a precautionary measure, driven by fears that the victim’s family members may seek retaliation.
