HARGEISA, Somaliland – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), held a significant meeting today with the Committee for the Registration of Political Organizations and Approval of National Parties (GDUS&AAQ), focusing on strengthening the democratic framework, enforcing legal protocols, and advancing the national responsibilities entrusted to the Committee.
The Committee, which operates as an independent national body, is mandated with the registration, monitoring, development, and resolution of disputes involving national political parties and political organizations.
During the meeting, the Committee briefed the President on the current status of its operations, its short-term and long-term strategic plans, and the challenges it faces in fulfilling its duties.
Committee members provided the President with a comprehensive report on their achievements across various facets of the democratic system and the country’s multi-party landscape. They formally submitted their Strategic Plan for the 2025–2026 period to the President.
Furthermore, the Committee shared its imminent plans for modernizing its operational framework. These initiatives include transitioning all records to a fully digital database (Electronic Data Base), establishing a “Democracy Academy,” implementing a comprehensive democratic reform plan, promoting inclusive political participation, strengthening political party development, and enhancing accountability and transparency.
President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi commended the Committee for its dedicated efforts and the profound sense of national responsibility it upholds. He urged the members to accelerate and complete the critical tasks currently before them.
The President reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for this national institution, which is tasked with safeguarding and advancing democracy. He emphasized the importance of carrying out their duties with integrity and professionalism to further strengthen Somaliland’s democratic culture and reinforce public confidence in the nation’s institutions.
