Hargeisa – The Ethiopian Business Association in Somaliland (ETBAS) was officially inaugurated today at a ceremony held in Hargeisa, marking a significant step toward deeper economic collaboration between the two sides.
The event centered on strengthening trade, economic, and investment ties between Somaliland and Ethiopia, while exploring new avenues to foster cooperation among business communities across both territories.
Discussions at the launch underscored the strategic importance of the Berbera Corridor as a vital link connecting Ethiopian trade with the Port of Berbera, with participants noting its considerable potential to enhance the movement of goods and stimulate regional commerce.
It was further emphasized that expanding trade and investment between Somaliland and Ethiopia heightens the need for robust, reliable insurance services to address business risks—particularly in areas such as cargo, goods, and transport insurance along key trade routes.
Speakers highlighted that advancing insurance services is essential to building business confidence, safeguarding assets and investments, and managing trade-related risks—all of which contribute to the growth and maturation of Somaliland’s insurance sector.
In closing, the ceremony concluded with warm congratulations to the leadership and members of ETBAS, along with hopes that the association will serve as a pivotal platform connecting business communities from both sides, driving investment, fostering commercial partnerships, and promoting sustainable economic development.
