TAIPEI, Taiwan– In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, the Minister of Interior and Security of the Republic of Somaliland, Honorable Abdalla Mohamed Arab, was received today by the President of Taiwan, His Excellency Lai Ching-te, at the Presidential Palace in Taipei.
The high-level meeting, held as part of Minister Arab’s official working visit to the country, focused on deepening the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation across several critical sectors. Central to the deliberations were efforts to enhance national security frameworks, public safety, and institutional collaboration between the two nations.
A key highlight of the discussion was a shared commitment to natural disaster management and risk mitigation. Minister Arab emphasized Somaliland’s dedication to fostering international alliances that strengthen the capacity of national institutions to protect citizens from environmental and security threats.
President Lai Ching-te expressed his administration’s firm support for the partnership, noting that strengthening ties with Somaliland is a priority grounded in mutual interests and shared democratic values. He underscored the importance of continued synergy in addressing regional challenges and building resilient governance structures.
The meeting underscores the evolving “special relationship” between Somaliland and Taiwan, as both entities continue to cooperate on security and development despite the complexities of the international political landscape.
