ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — The Somaliland Institute of Agricultural Research (SIAR) is seeking to deepen scientific cooperation with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) as Somaliland confronts persistent challenges linked to drought, livestock feed shortages and climate change.
A high-level SIAR delegation visited ILRI’s headquarters in Addis Ababa on July 31, 2026, for technical discussions and a tour of the institute’s livestock feed and forage research facilities. The visit focused on laboratory infrastructure, forage research, the preservation of genetic resources and opportunities for long-term collaboration between the two institutions.
The delegation was led by Khalid Mohamoud Jama, Deputy Executive Director of SIAR, and included Abdirahman Ibrahim Abdilahi, Head of Field Crops, and Abdi Khaliq Maal, Assistant Head of Field Crops.
