“We are new to this, but the world has seen that workers’ unions and political parties can cooperate and become allies.”

The Chairman of the Somaliland ruling party, Hon. Hersi Haji Ali Hassan, speaking to the Somaliland Workers’ Unions, said:
“We are very pleased with the preliminary Memorandum of Understanding between the WADDANI Party and the Somaliland Workers’ Unions. This agreement is the result of the great efforts and extensive scrutiny that the workers’ unions have put into affirming their existence, securing their rights, and advancing their interests.

To all the workers of Somaliland, we extend a platform on which we will become allies—a party that supports, champions, and sympathizes with the workers, shares their needs, and addresses their concerns.”

He added: “As a party, it was an ambition we aspired to—to develop the workers’ unions—as we articulated in our political program upon which we entered the election. We stand for creating new ideas and visions through which the country can progress and take steps forward.”

The Chairman concluded:
“If in the past the workers’ unions were oppressed, today we have become allies through cooperation between us!”
