HARGEISA — The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Adan Haji Ali, attended the national celebration of the 18 May anniversary on Thursday evening, held at the Presidency headquarters in the capital.

The Chief Justice was among several senior officials who addressed the gathering. In his speech, he reflected extensively on the profound historical significance of 18 May for the Republic of Somaliland. He traced the nation’s long struggle, its various phases, and the arduous efforts made over the past 35 years in rebuilding the country and consolidating statehood.

Justice Adan Haji Ali particularly commended the resilience, unity, and cohesion demonstrated by both the people and the government of Somaliland—qualities that he said have resulted in the security, stability, effective governance, and visible development the nation enjoys today.

The Chief Justice also firmly stressed that it is the duty of the international community to grant Somaliland the opportunity and standing it deserves.

Concluding his address, he praised President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) for his diplomatic strategy and ongoing efforts to secure recognition for Somaliland by more countries. He noted that the first recognition achieved under President Irro would open new pathways in politics, the economy, and international relations.
