The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, accompanied by the Director of Wildlife and the Director of Administration and Finance, conducted an inspection tour of the Debbis Wildlife Reserve. The visit aimed to assess the reserve’s current status, review ongoing activities, and explore ways to accelerate development plans while reinforcing conservation efforts.

During the tour, the Minister also visited the historical and archaeological site of Dhagax-Nebi-Galay, where he evaluated its significance to Somaliland’s environmental, historical, and cultural heritage.

As a key protected area for wildlife—particularly gazelles and deer—Debbis Wildlife Reserve highlights the critical need for robust protective measures and sustainable management. The inspection underscored the importance of strengthening both protection and development frameworks to ensure the long-term preservation of its natural resources.

The Ministry reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to advancing wildlife protection, developing protected areas, and safeguarding Somaliland’s natural, historical, and cultural legacy.
