Berbera – A high-level delegation of Ethiopian business leaders and investors arrived in Berbera on a working visit to inspect the Port of Berbera and the Berbera Economic Free Zone, assessing potential opportunities in trade, logistics, and investment.

The delegation was accompanied by senior officials from Somaliland’s Ministry of Finance, including Director General Mohamed Hassan and Customs Director Abdirahman, alongside other key representatives.

During the visit, the group received a comprehensive tour of the port’s modern facilities and state-of-the-art infrastructure. Officials highlighted the strategic importance of Berbera Port in facilitating regional trade and connectivity.

Mr. Ali Diriye Ahmed, Director General of the Somaliland Ports Authority, welcomed the delegation. He emphasized that the Port of Berbera is fully prepared to meet Ethiopia’s trade requirements, offering efficient, reliable, and competitive services.

The Ethiopian delegates expressed strong appreciation for the progress at the port and free zone, describing the developments as a critical gateway for Ethiopia to access global markets.

This visit underscores Ethiopia’s growing interest in leveraging Berbera’s strategic location and enhanced capabilities to support its import-export activities and broader economic ambitions in the Horn of Africa.
