HARGEISA – EUCAP Somaliland has successfully conducted a comprehensive training programme on international maritime laws, conventions, and governance for key maritime stakeholders in the Republic of Somaliland, with a particular focus on officers of the Somaliland Coast Guard.
The curriculum was specifically designed to deepen participants’ knowledge of international legal frameworks, global maritime conventions, governance structures, and best practices in maritime law enforcement. The sessions covered a wide range of critical topics, including maritime jurisdiction, coastal security, maritime safety, environmental protection, and inter-institutional cooperation.
This initiative forms part of EUCAP Somaliland’s continued support for strengthening the nation’s maritime security capacity, improving governance standards, and reinforcing the rule of law within the maritime domain. By equipping maritime officials with essential legal and operational expertise, the programme aims to foster safer and more secure maritime operations, protect Somaliland’s valuable marine resources, and enhance collaboration among all institutions responsible for safeguarding the country’s territorial waters.
