Hargeisa – The government of President Abdirahman Cirro is facing allegations of interfering with the independence of the Somaliland Judiciary. The accusation comes after a forceful statement from Chief Justice Aadan Haji Ali, who defended the judiciary’s autonomy, asserting that it is an independent institution not administered by the President.
Chief Justice Aadan Haji Ali’s strong remarks suggest that the Cirro administration has overstepped its bounds, violating the principle of judicial independence. If these claims of interference are verified, it would precipitate a constitutional crisis. Such a crisis would not only challenge the rule of law but also severely damage public trust in the nation’s institutions.
