Hargeisa – Today, the Office of the Minister of the Ministry of Planning and National Development hosted a meeting of the High-Level Steering Committee for the Land and Water Management Improvement Project, chaired by the Minister of Planning and National Development, Ms. Kaltuun Sheikh Hassan.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Change, and Livestock, along with project implementation management representatives, including Mohamed Farah and Ibrahim Arab. Also present were advisors and officials from the relevant ministries involved in the project.

The session focused on accelerating project implementation, strengthening coordination among partner agencies, and enhancing the integration of plans aimed at improving land and water resource management. Committee members exchanged recommendations and strategies to reinforce the project’s operational rollout.

This project aims to enhance food security and livestock productivity through better land and water management, as well as to combat soil erosion. Additionally, the initiative seeks to increase rainwater harvesting and storage, and to strengthen the recharge of groundwater aquifers.
