Hargeisa – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), convened a consultative and operational session with the Ambassadors, Envoys, and Deputy Ambassadors recently appointed to serve the nation abroad. The meeting underscored the imperative of discharging diplomatic mandates with efficiency, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the interests, dignity, and reputation of the Republic of Somaliland.
The President was joined at the session by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdirahman Dahir Adam Bakaal.
President Irro emphasized that ambassadorial roles transcend mere official representation, constituting instead national responsibilities that embody the name, statehood, strategic interests, and future aspirations of the Republic of Somaliland.
He noted that these responsibilities carry particular significance at a time when the international community is increasingly cognizant of Somaliland’s nationhood, statehood, and strategic role within the region and beyond.
The President charged the officials to carry out their mandates with diligence, competence, integrity, and national dignity, while strengthening diplomatic ties with their respective host countries. He urged them to prioritize mutual understanding, cooperation, and shared interests, and to cultivate effective international partnerships capable of unlocking diplomatic, political, economic, and developmental opportunities for Somaliland.
President Irro further urged the Ambassadors to play a pivotal role in unifying and connecting Somaliland diaspora communities in their host countries—fostering social cohesion, encouraging diaspora participation in national affairs, and harnessing their collective capacities, expertise, and international networks in service of the Republic’s interests.
In response, the Ambassadors, Envoys, and Deputy Ambassadors reaffirmed their commitment to fulfilling their diplomatic obligations, pledging to serve with integrity, diligence, competence, and transparency. They vowed to place the protection of Somaliland’s interests, dignity, and reputation at the forefront of their work, and to pursue the nation’s diplomatic aspirations and strategic interests without pause.
