HARGEISA — His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, today received Ambassador Mohamed Abdi Afey, the former Special Envoy of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in a courtesy meeting at the Presidential Palace.

The discussions centered on the security landscape and political developments in the Horn of Africa, with a particular focus on strengthening regional cooperation to foster lasting peace and sustainable development. President Irro reiterated Somaliland’s commitment to stability in the region, describing the country as a peaceful and democratic nation.

Ambassador Afey lauded Somaliland’s achievements in peacebuilding and state-building, noting that the country stands as a commendable model for other nations in the region. He further announced that he will be presenting a forthcoming book that chronicles his extensive experience in peacebuilding efforts across the Horn of Africa.

The meeting was also attended by officials and business representatives keen on investment opportunities, particularly within the healthcare sector.
