HARGEISA – The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Mohamed Yusuf Ali, on Thursday received a United Kingdom military delegation at his office in the capital.

The delegation was led by Colonel Ben Ramsay OBE, the UK Defence Attaché, and included Colonel Richard Grover. The team is currently in Somaliland on an official working visit.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in key areas including security, defense, military training, and the professional development of the armed forces. The Minister and the UK officials underscored the importance of continued collaboration between Somaliland and the United Kingdom, particularly with regard to regional peace and stability.

Minister Mohamed Yusuf Ali expressed his gratitude to the UK delegation for their visit and acknowledged the United Kingdom’s longstanding support for the Republic of Somaliland, especially in the areas of military capacity-building and strengthening security institutions.

In response, the UK delegation thanked the Minister for his warm hospitality and commended the significant progress Somaliland has made in security sector reform, military development, and the maintenance of stability.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Somaliland and the UK government.
