HARGEISA – The National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Somaliland held a key meeting today with the special committee appointed by the House of Elders (Guurti) to advise on extending the terms of the House of Representatives and local councils.
Over the past several days, the Term Extension Committee, alongside Guurti leadership, has conducted intensive consultations at the Guurti headquarters, engaging various political stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives.
Led by its Chairman, the Electoral Commission formally presented its expert recommendations during the discussions. The Commission also outlined its specific responsibilities in organizing and overseeing the upcoming elections.
