Somaliland Interior Minister Concludes Samawade Peace Conference in Awdal Region

GEERISA, Awdal – The Minister of Interior and Security of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdalle Mohamed Arab, has officially concluded the Samawade peace conference held in the Geerisa area of the Awdal region, which resulted in a provisional agreement and provisions aimed at strengthening peace and coexistence between two brotherly clans following three days of intensive dialogue.

The conference was chaired by the Ministry of Interior and Security, in collaboration with the Peace Committee of the House of Elders (Guurti), members of the Council of Ministers, including the Ministers of Technology, Youth and Sports, Minerals and Energy, the Deputy Minister of Constitutional Affairs, and regional officials from Awdal, Selel, and Saaxil.

The provisions arising from the conference were jointly ratified by the House of Elders and the delegations representing the two clans brought together for the peace initiative.

Minister of Interior Abdalle Mohamed Arab stated that the government will implement all agreed-upon points and will take firm action against any party that violates or undermines the peace agreement.

Elders and notables from both clans, for their part, pledged to work toward the implementation of the agreed provisions and the consolidation of peace.

The Samawade peace conference concluded in a calm atmosphere, with participants expressing hope that the agreement will serve as a foundation for lasting peace and stability across the western regions of Somaliland.
