The Somaliland Ministry of Local Government and Urban Development convened a key stakeholder meeting at the Sarovar Hotel today to deliberate on and approve the regulations governing solid waste management.
Co-organized with DT Global, the session was officially opened by the Ministry’s Director General, Mr. Ali Cige Mahmoud. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the regulation’s critical role in empowering local governments and ensuring effective waste management across the nation.
The meeting drew a broad cross-section of participants, including mayors from various districts, representatives from multiple institutions, and officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
Discussions centered on establishing a robust and sustainable framework for solid waste management, with a strong focus on strengthening the capacity of local governments and improving overall waste management practices throughout Somaliland.
