The Somaliland Ministry of Defence recently participated in a high-level international symposium on military anti-corruption, hosted at the UK Defence Academy in Shrivenham. The summit was exclusively dedicated to exploring strategies for preventing, countering, and mitigating corruption within armed forces.

Representing the Ministry, Advisor Farah Haji Ahmed Xaabuush joined delegates from 24 nations to exchange global best practices for bolstering transparency, accountability, and good governance across defense sectors. During the conference, the UK government formally reaffirmed its continued support for Somaliland, pledging specialized training and capacity-building initiatives designed to wholly eradicate corruption within the military.

This engagement marks a significant milestone in deepening Somaliland’s international cooperation. The knowledge and frameworks acquired will significantly accelerate the National Armed Forces’ ongoing efforts to establish transparent, highly capable, and accountable defense institutions.
