Minister of Energy and Minerals of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdillahi Abdi Farah, today closed the inaugural meeting of the Power Africa project, a program to improve the quality of electricity service and knowledge of service providers, with the aim of making Somaliland a part of energy integration and sharing in East Africa and across the continent.

The four days at the Ambassador Hotel in Hargeisa, was concluded today. among the dignitaries attending the meeting were the Minister of Energy and Minerals Mr. Abdilahi Abdi Farah, Chairman of the National Energy Commission Mr. Ahmed Farah Adare, Minister for Council Relations and Constitutional Affairs Mr. Mohamed Haji Aden, heads of departments in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, officials from RTI International the company implementing the project in Somaliland and representatives from the country’s electricity companies.

During the meeting, the importance of the project to Somaliland and the overall benefits of the Power Africa integration and energy sharing project was discussed in depth.

Those attending the meeting presented ideas and theories related to how easily it can be implemented

The Power Africa project is funded by the United States Government through USAID and will help local service providers acquire knowledge and experience in the field of electricity.
