Hargeisa – Opposition politician Eng. Faysal Ali Waraabe has accused Somalia’s Federal Government of launching a direct attack on Somaliland’s sovereignty. His statement came in response to a document issued by Somalia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Mr. Feisal Ali Waraabe, posting on his official X platform account (formerly Twitter), urged the people of Somaliland to unify in response. He characterized the alleged plan as:

  1. Abolishing Sovereignty: An effort to “abolish the Republic of Somaliland.”
  2. Imposing Regional Administrations: Creating “regional administrations” within Somaliland’s territory.
  3. Open Coordination: A “destructive plan” being “openly coordinated” with the “failed administration in Mogadishu” and unspecified “foreign governments.”
  4. Territorial Ambitions: Part of a broader “political warfare” campaign aiming to seize parts of Somaliland, specifically naming the Sanaag region.

“Therefore, people of Somaliland,” Waraabe wrote, “what is our position regarding this attack launched against our country?

He concluded with an urgent call to action: “A national consultation and a unified strategy are immediately required to confront this clear and present danger to our sovereignty and existence posed by various enemies.”
