HARGEISA, Somaliland – His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, today officially launched the Somaliland National Qur’an Reciters Council and inaugurated a new initiative for the recording and publication of the Holy Qur’an. The dual events mark a historic milestone in efforts to promote, preserve, and disseminate the Holy Qur’an across the nation.
In his address, President Cirro described himself as a devoted servant of the Holy Qur’an and called upon the people of Somaliland to remain steadfast in their adherence to its teachings and the broader principles of Islam. He underscored that Islamic values are the bedrock of peace, morality, justice, social cohesion, and national progress.
The President urged citizens to adopt the Holy Qur’an as the guiding framework and primary reference for their daily lives, encouraging them to uphold its teachings and follow the exemplary guidance of Islam. He stressed that adherence to these principles is essential to strengthening peace, brotherhood, justice, and national unity throughout Somaliland.
President Cirro also commended the invaluable role of Somaliland’s religious scholars (Ulama) in safeguarding peace and stability, guiding society, promoting unity, and reinforcing the Islamic values upon which the Republic of Somaliland is founded.
Concluding his remarks, the President prayed that Allah (SWT) grant Somaliland lasting peace, prosperity, and national unity, along with leadership devoted to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He also prayed for Allah’s abundant reward for all scholars and reciters who have dedicated their lives to serving and preserving the Islamic faith.
The ceremony underscored Somaliland’s enduring commitment to preserving its Islamic heritage and enhancing religious education, ensuring that the Holy Qur’an is recorded, published, and promoted for future generations.
