Hargeisa – The Minister of Interior and Security, Abdalle Mohamed Arab, and the Minister of Minerals and Energy, Eng. Ahmed Jama Bare, today signed a landmark agreement at the Ministry of Interior and Security headquarters to formalize the establishment of the Natural Resources Protection Force.

The newly formed unit, whose creation was officially sealed today, will be specifically tasked with safeguarding the nation’s natural wealth. The force will operate as an integral branch of the Somaliland Police Force, a move necessitated by the country’s abundant natural resources which require dedicated security and oversight.

During the signing ceremony, both ministers underscored that the formation of this specialized protection unit meets a critical national need. They stated that the force will be instrumental in monitoring and securing the rich natural endowments with which Somaliland has been blessed, ensuring they are properly managed and protected.

The inter-ministerial agreement signing was witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Interior and Security, Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed (Magalo), and the Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Abdi Abdilahi Hassan (Abdilahi-Dheere).
