President H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi led thousands of mourners in a state burial accorded the senior-most traditional leader in the country Sultan Mohamed sultan Abdulqadir that happened at the Central Business District (CBD) of Hargeisa yesterday afternoon.

The traditional monarchy leader who held his chieftaincy for four and half decades passed on in the evening of Friday 12th February, 2021.

The Head of the State, who was flanked by the official opposition party leaders (WADDANI and UCID), was part of thousands of mourners not witnessed in recent times that was graced by all senior most traditional leaders including from those of the surrounding neighboring countries, government officials, senior service commanders and politicians, all and sundry from every walks of life thronged the central main Jamia Mosque, where last rites of Salatul Janezat (Prayer for the deceased), was held shortly before the burial.

The Head of the State prayed to Allah to rest the departed leader’s soul in eternal peace.

He sent both his heartfelt condolence and on behalf of the government and people of Somaliland to the family, relatives, colleagues, and friends of the late Sultan and wishing them to have stronger faith during the trying moment of the bereavement.

The President on the other hand prayed to God to guide the newly enthroned Sultan Daud Sultan Mohamed who was next in the hierarchy line hence the eldest son of the late Sultan, and bestow wisdom on his new challenges.

Immediately upon being informed of the demise of the late Sultan Mohamed, the president sent his initial condolences hence noted the historical important roles the departed leader played in the pacification of the nation’s communities, setting cohesive and harmonious stability in the country.

The late Sulan Mohamed Sultan Abdiqadir was in his own right an engineer and an intellectual.

On the other hand Waddani leader Abdirahman Abdillahi Irro and UCID leader Eng Faisal Ali Warabe were amongst those who registered their condolences to the bereaved family at the graveside.

Others were notably Sultan Hassan Sultan Abdillahi, MP Mohamed A. Dirie, Mayor Abdirahman M. Aided and Garad Kulmiye.

Hundreds of condolences of similar nature has continued to jam newsrooms in the country from nations and prominent personalities and traditional leaders from all over the world.

Amongst them is the UK head of Somaliland office Mr. Robert Stuart.
