Somalilandcurrent, Hargeisa–The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Saylici), welcomed the Ambassador of Qatar based in the neighboring country of Somalia Amb. Hassan Bin Hamza Hashem arrived in the country to assess the devastation caused by the recent fire at Waheen Central Market.

The VP flanked by members of the National Waaheen Fire Support and Relief Committee and cabinet ministers accompanied the Qatari diplomat to the site of the fire in central Hargeisa.

The VP informed the visiting Qatari ambassador of the events of that fateful day and how the fire had affected the traders and their property, and that thousands of businessmen were now left empty-handed after the fire destroyed their property.

 

Qatar’s Ambassador Hassan Bin Hamza Hashem, accompanied by Fahad Al-Dehemi, representing Qatar’s International Aid Ogrnaztions, and Mr. Yusuf Al-Mulla, Qatar’s Humanitarian Aid Researcher, and Ali Abdullah Al-Dabbagh expressed their grief over the loss of property in Somaliland, and at the same time handed over food aid to 750 needy families, and pledged the government’s commitment to helping rebuild the Waheen market.
