Mr. Saleban Mahmoud Aden, the Speaker of Somaliland House of Elders “Guurti” has revealed that the Ethiopian Prime Minister Aby Ahmed has in recent weeks exerted pressure on the Somaliland government to forge peace with Somalia.

Mr. Saleban Mahmoud Aden, addressing the House of Elders said that Prime Minister Aby Ahmed has for the second time asked the government of Somaliland to let him visit the country with President Abdullahi Farmajo of Somalia.

Mr. Saleban said the Somaliland government had previously rejected the Prime Minister’s request but Mr. Aby repeated his request to come to Hargeisa.

The Speaker of Somaliland House of Elders “Guurti” reiterated that the government is against President Abdullahi Farmajo visit.

He added “We strongly urge the Ethiopian Prime Minister not to bring him along, not that we shall harm him but if Mr. Ahmed Aby insists then let him come as a Somali civilian, not as a Head of State.

Mr. Saleban Mahmoud Aden, the Speaker of Somaliland House of Elders “Guurti” further said that the Somali President was pretending to apologize but wasn’t sincere in deeds.

President Muse will address both national assemblies on Tuesday.

Such a decision by the government to unconditionally allow President Abdullahi Farmajo of Somalia will surely infuriate the people of Republic of Somaliland.

Prime Minister Aby Ahmed has vowed to install peace throughout the Horn of Africa with a focus on the Somali-Somaliland conflict.
