Hargeisa, Somaliland – President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi ‘Irro’ officially opened the Somaliland Investment Conference on Sunday with a powerful message: Somaliland is openly and wholeheartedly inviting global investors to explore its abundant opportunities and conducive business environment.

The two-day conference, held at the Sarovar Premier Hotel in the capital Hargeisa, convened 80 investors from 23 countries across the Horn of Africa and beyond. It was organized by the Ministry of Investment and Industrial Development in collaboration with the Ministry of the Presidency.

In his address, President Irro underscored his administration’s primary focus on national stability and strategic investments as the cornerstone of development for the people of Somaliland.

He detailed the vast investment opportunities available across key sectors, including:

· Economic Infrastructure
· Livestock & Fisheries
· Agriculture
· Energy & Minerals
· Modern Technology

The President highlighted the nation’s unique advantages that create a favorable investment climate, citing its political stability, democratic governance, secure environment, and robust legal frameworks designed to facilitate private enterprise. He also emphasized the country’s skilled workforce and harmonious, welcoming society.

President Irro reaffirmed his government’s commitment to prioritizing a transparent and open investment environment that encourages Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), fosters development, and creates jobs.

He specifically hailed DP World as a trailblazing success story, thanking the conglomerate for its pioneering investments in the Berbera Port and Berbera Economic Free Zone a decade ago—a move that first placed Somaliland firmly on the global investment map.

The President described the conference as a historic platform that demonstrates growing international confidence in Somaliland’s economic and political future, opening doors for regional cooperation and global economic integration.

Since taking office ten months ago, the Irro administration has focused on consolidating domestic political and security stability while championing investment opportunities on the international stage, with key diplomatic visits to nations including Kenya, the UAE, and Qatar.
