President Silanyo inaugurates a modern emergency services casualty department for the Hargeisa Group Hospital,

The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo inaugurated yesterday a modern emergency services casualty department for the Hargeisa Group Hospital, the largest public health facility in the country.

The President cut the ribbon of the facility which carries 50 beds in two wings, one for the males and the other for the females.

He at the same time laid the foundation stone for a new maternal and child wing which is to be constructed. The Head of the State who addressed the function praised all those who worked well with him in enabling such achievements.

He at the same time hailed all those who saw to it that the developmental progress was being made in expanding and modernizing the hospital.

He expressed the happiness that it was contentment to see that the facility is face-lifted and a better mark was made from the time it served the British colonial regimes.

The president was given the keys to two new ambulances. It is to be noted that the President had made the hospital and the health ministry a priority and had always been returning to the facility to see and monitor its progress. It is him who directed the installation of such facilities and set task forces to establish them.

Others who spoke at the occasion included the mayor who had given earlier on  a 50,000 USD check (for the emergency wing) and who has just handed over a further 20 thousand USD for the new mother and child wing to be constructed, and the hospitals’ director general Dr. Askar which is to solely cater for the new casualty/emergency department.

The Health minister Hon. Suleiman Isse Hagletosie profusely thanked the Finance minister Hon. Zamzam Abdi Aden and gave her the credit for being a main pillar behind the rehabilitation, reconstruction and expansion of the hospital. While handing over the keys to the vehicles to the President who turn handed it to the health minister, Hon. Zamzam directed that the vehicles were to be purposes of the casualty department hence ply within the city and its environs only.

The President was accompanied by both the Health and Finance ministers, the Interior minister Hon. Yasin, information minister Hon. Osman A. Sahardeed, Presidential special advisor Ali Mohammed Waran-adde.
