The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has started distributing emergency relief aid to families in Berbera, a city in the north-west Sahil region of Somaliland.
The aid package was sent following the instructions of H.E President Sheikh Khalifa, and H.E Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to alleviate the suffering of the Somali people.
The programme aims to hand out 5,000 food baskets to drought stricken families in Sahil region.
The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation was the first foreign aid agency to responds to Somaliland government appeals and has since distributed food to families in other regions , including Burao, Sool Awdal and others affected by the drought.
