The government of Taiwan has pledged to help Somaliland farmers to produce quality vegetables and fruits.

On February 2, Somaliland’s Ministry of Agriculture Development announced that it would set up this project with Taiwan Representative Office in Somaliland.

Furthermore, they would launch the project jointly with the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).

The agriculture ministry, ICDF, and Taiwan Representative Office seek to develop farming production in the breakaway northern region.

As part of the project, the three are to set up a pilot farm.

Next, they would also start training Somaliland farmers to implement modern farming practices to boost agricultural production.

Personnel at the agriculture ministry are also scheduled to benefit from the training.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Roble Abdi Muse, a Director-General of the ministry, said that improved farming production is a priority of President Muse Bihi Abdi’s administration.

The Director-General stated that the government has already prepared and launched the National Development Plan to boost agricultural production.
