HARGEISA, Somaliland – The ruling WADDANI Party turned the spotlight firmly on its own administration this afternoon, hosting the fourth session of its citizen-engagement initiative, “Lahadal Xisbigaaga” (Speak to Your Party), at the party’s central headquarters. The special guest was the Minister of Justice, Hon. Yonis Ahmed Yonis who appeared before party loyalists to defend the government’s track record and outline its judicial agenda.
Designed as a premier accountability mechanism, the party-level program offers grassroots supporters a rare, direct channel to scrutinize the leadership of the government their votes brought to power. Crucially, this session signaled a strategic evolution in the party’s outreach: whereas previous meetings centered on ideological vision-casting, today’s gathering was rooted firmly in practical governance and measurable deliverables—a shift from abstract policy debate to on-the-ground implementation.
Minister Yonis received widespread praise for his willingness to engage transparently and honor the party’s invitation without reservation. Over the course of the session, he delivered a detailed briefing on the Ministry of Justice’s recent reforms, ongoing rule-of-law initiatives, and the administration’s long-term legal roadmap. More importantly, he endured a rigorous question-and-answer segment, fielding pointed inquiries from the party base with directness and clarity.
In their closing remarks, WADDANI officials emphasized the inseparable bond between the political organization and the executive branch it birthed. Rejecting the notion of a divide between party and state, they framed the relationship as intrinsically twin-like—a single governing entity operating through two complementary arms. “A twin party and government, inextricably united!” they declared, underscoring that this unity is not merely symbolic but operationally essential for delivering on the promises made to the Somali people.
The party has reiterated its commitment to sustaining this open dialogue, positioning the “Speak to Your Party” series as a permanent fixture of its governance philosophy—ensuring that accountability remains a continuous, lived practice rather than a periodic gesture.
