Hargeisa – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), has officially inaugurated the Somaliland Independence and Recognition Institute, an international-level research and diplomatic center dedicated to strengthening legal, historical, political, and self-determination arguments for the Republic of Somaliland.

The President stated that the opening of this institute demonstrates the maturity of Somaliland’s statehood and the unwavering commitment of the people of Somaliland to safeguarding their independence and achieving the goal of full international recognition.

He noted that the institute will play a major role in researching, disseminating, and archiving the legal and historical legacy of the Republic of Somaliland. It will also serve as a platform connecting scholars, historians, legal experts, diplomats, and friends of Somaliland from around the world.

Furthermore, the President of Somaliland indicated that the institute will contribute to strengthening advocacy for recognition, advancing studies on peace and state-building, fostering relations with international organizations, and raising awareness among younger generations about the value of nationhood and the existence of the Republic of Somaliland.

The President underscored that the Republic of Somaliland has enjoyed peace, stability, democratic progress, and functioning governance for over 35 years—a record, he said, that gives Somaliland a legal right and precedence to be accepted as a member of the international community.
