In late November 2013, 500 Somali Armed Forces Were Put Through A Graduation Ceremony In Mogadishu And Headed For Hiiraan, The Administrative Region Of South Central Somalia. Their Prime Purpose Was To Bolster The African Union Mission’s Fight Against Al-Shabab, An Al-Qaida Linked Armed Group In Somalia. On Thursday The 12th Of December 2013, The Same Army Dressed And Equipped With The Military Gear Of The Somali National Army Rain Carnage And Destruction On The Farming District Of Kabxanley. To The Dismay And Disbelieve Of The People Of Hiiraan, Their Fight Was Not Against Al-shabab, But Rather A Calculated Plan Spearheaded By The Regional Administration To Takeover Some Of The Best Commercial Farmlands In Hiiraan And Distribute Among The Xawaadle Clan Which  DSominate The Political Affairs Of Hiiraan.

Kabaxanley is a Small Farming District 30 Km to the Northwest of Beledweyn, the Provincial Capital of Hiiraan; its Home to the Surre-Qubeys Clan Part of the Larger Dir Family. The Residents of Kabxanley are known to the People of Hiiraan As Fiqi Cumur, Forename Associated with the Clan’s Islamic Religious Teachings During The Early 15th Century in Central and Northern Eastern Somalia.

Events that Unfolded Could only be Described as Total Annihilation designed to ensure the Permanent displacement of the fiqi Cumur Farming Community. Armed with over 20 Technical Pickups and 600 Men, the Lightly Equipped Farmers of Kabaxenley Numbering Just 70 Who Bravely Attempted to Defend their Homes and Farms from the invading army never stood a chance. Testimonies from farmers who fled to surrounding villages tell accounts of how their houses and farms were burnt down from the heavy shelling and soldiers directly instructing they vacate district then torching homes and farms.

The Consequential Carnage Spearheaded by the Army resulted in over 300 homes being burnt including the district only Mosque; the burning of a Mosque something unheard of in Somalia’s 23 years civil war. The resulting Casualties included 25 Deaths and 30 injuries, with the Injured belonging to Kabaxanley Farming Community being Refused Medical Treatment in Beledweyn’s General Hospital and Forced to seek Medical Attention over the border in Ethiopia.  A troubling aspect which will further prolong the achievement of a stable Somalia was that this done with total endorsement from the Hiiraan Regional Administration.

Over the past several months, the Biimaal farming communities in the Lower Shabelle Region have continually fallen victim to government forces brutality infamously portrayed by Amin Amir, the famous Somali political cartoonist. According to the lower Shabelle clan elders, their illegal acts are being sanctioned by the Interior minister of Somalia, Mr Abdikarim Hussein Guled, who has well-documented ties to warlord that terrorised the lower Shebelle communities for over 22 years. Resources meant to liberate the country from the scourge of Al-Shabab are being used to train militias aligned to the Interior minister of Somalia, Mr Abdikarim Hussein Guled and the infamous Warlord Mr. Yusuf Mohamed Siyad (Indha cadde). It was not long ago when Amnesty International Warned against lifting the arms Embargo against Somalia due the lack of necessary mechanisms to ensure that armaments don’t violate  human rights Abuses.

According to elders in kabaxnely, their farms became a target for the Xawaadle clan when the director of thee (Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Hiiraan,  Cilmi Axmed Nuur, promised to fund farming projects obtained through DRC assistance if the Xawaadle  communities who he shares kinship ties with could expand their territorial dominion over this rich farming district. It’s not uncommon for either politicians or directors of NGO’s in Somalia to fuel tribal tensions over economic resources.

A Somali government delegation led by the Minister of Natural Resources was dispatched to observe to events that have unfolded and force ceasefire between the warring sides. However, no acceptable peace plan was put forward by the government delegation which included allowing the refugees that fled Kabxanley to return to their homes and farms.

  1. To be honest am always confused between the SNA and Alshabab and other terrorist groups
the Onlf, Khatumo et what not? The status quo were always the same since the Siade Barre
Military Regime defunct in 1991 todate. A big fiefdom warmongering abyss always consuming
and devouring the IC aid donations without resolves.
    Cheers.

  2. Where all the Somalian self appointed Govts failed since 1991 todate, it remains to be
seen how the much beleagured FGS could make a difference. So far the FGS president HSM
is frantically fighting out with all his claws to beat all the eventualities when he has already been
faced with so many assassinations. It's either him or the enemies. Pretty scary stuff.
    Cheers.

  3. This article is biased and garbage, yes there was a war between two clans and the Federal Troops were sent there to stop the trouble makers. Somalia will now use the same system that Kenya have been using for centuries which is to use army that don't hail from an area to keep the peace. Kenya sends all Somali Kenyan forces to keep peace in Kikuyu area and all Kikuyu to NFD. Somalia now has strong army and it will grow.

  4. Look at what the bantu boy wadani wrote:

"Somalia will now use the same system that Kenya have been using for centuries which is to use army that don't hail from an area to keep the peace. Kenya sends all Somali Kenyan forces to keep peace in Kikuyu area and all Kikuyu to NFD".

He is telling that Somali troops are deployed in Kikuyu areas. Of course that is true because vice versa Kenyan troops are deployed in Kismayo. Your bantu country and bantu people are part and parcel of Kenya like Kenya is part and parcel of you. You two bantu countries are intertwined. That is nothing new. It is something we knew always. But what is new in your confession is that you now are telling us that NFD in a Kenyan territory, while before you used to tell us, Quraysh, that NFD was part of your fake Wanlawayn..

    • @ C-Tears I don't mind you calling me Bantu bro, but I am afraid I will be taller and lighter than you in real life, just a joke, now speaking of the NFD, it's a Somalia territory under occupation and the majority of the people in NFD are very sympathetic to the Somali cause,

  5. Shoe-less MALATIA… Don’t do you ever call this pundits Somali National Army. Theses are some USC and SNM militias.

    • @ Punt-king,

A bantu making fun of his fellow bantus.

Where is wadani? Let's us see how he responds to Punt-king. We love watching bantus fighting?

  6. Says who this article is bias?
This article is the truth! The Somalia government is using her troops, weapons and funds from international communities to support hawiye tribes to forcefully take agricultural land from minority tribes in Somalia. Abgaal hawiye took jareer agricultural land close to jowhar with the consent of the government by force. Hawaadle hawiye took Surre Dir agricultural land in kabaxanlay hiiraan by force using Somalia government solders and weapons. Habargidir Hawiye unsuccessfully attempted to take Biimaal Dir agricultural land in Shabelle regoins with the support of Somalia government solders and weapons.( All this within a span of 6 months!)
Fortunately for Dir tribes in Somalia (Surre and Biimaal), they are very experienced fighters and they have numbers. unfortunately for Jareer tribes in Jowhar rejoin, they are un armed and small in number.
This article clearly shows that the Somalia government is a government based on tribalism. Hawiye tribe to be exact.
Dir tribes are known to be religious and peace loving people. The spread of Islam in Somalia approximately 1000 years ago is accredited to the Dir tribe. Though Dir tribe is religious and peaceful they are expert fighters. Historically any time when non Muslims invaded Somali territory, though all Somali tribes fought against the invaders, Dir tribes led the wars and contributed the most wealth and fighters against the invaders. Biimaal Dir against the Italians, Ahmed Gurray (who is Dir) against Ethiopians and Portuguese , Issa Dir tribe against the French, and so on and so forth.
For the 23 years of civil war in Somalia Dir tribes have avoided tribal warfare and Somali Politcs. Dir tribes actually supported this current government and backed Hassan Culusow. Now that same government is covertly using its fellow hawiye tribes to take agricultural land from dir??
    How stupid can that be?
This article is truth weather you like or not. Thank you Somaliland Press for posting it and keep up the good work!

  7. As of today, the interior minister is no longer a minister. Good riddance!

I am disappointed at the Hawiye and how they govern a country. Hawiye remember Djibouti is a Dir nation. Stop the carnage against Surrey and Biyomaal Dir or else…

  8. It is poor leadership to lead an entire region into a non-negotiable corner. The international community is not going to or entertain another little dusty, and economically nonviable clan region (beside maybe some unexploited and meagre natural resources) to have a seat at the UN. There is no case for a nation, only khat-like dreams of Somali clansmen.

This does not even need negotiation. Even allowing to meet with them in Turkey has already aroused fantom confidence in them.

The clan leaders of this region are failing their people by planting unrealistic expectations in their minds. Somaliland is a clan region and no self respecting nation will recognize it. Maybe, except some enterprising western oil companies who have no interest in unification of Africans. The more divided they are, the easier it is to exploit their resources. Why do you think America went to the defence of Kuwait, because they love Arabs? No, because they are preventing huge consolidation of oil resources which will mean higher prices!!

Sadly, Somalians are so poor that there is not even foreign interest to divide them.

  9. More propaganda to undermine our fledgling unity government by separatist clansmen.
