A workshop to discuss and review Somaliland Public Finances and Management act Lr.75/2016 was finalized in Hargeisa.

The seminar organized by the ministry of finance was attended by the parliamentary committee for finance and economics.

A two days symposium was held at Fish and Steak Hotel on this week.

The agenda of the meeting pertained the reviewing and making changes on the management of the government financial laws.

The participants of the meeting were drawn from the civil society and government institutions.

Addressing the participants in the seminar were top government officials they are as follows: Speaker of Somaliland parliament Hon. Abdirizak Khalif Ahmed, minister of finance Mr. Saad Ali Shire, assistant minister of finance Amb. Rhoda Jama Elmi and the chairman of the parliamentary committee for finance and economics Abdirashid Abdillahi Musa urged the participants to brainstorm and input their ideas on the relevant changes that are needed to the finance and economic act.

The assistant minister of finance Amb. Rhoda stated that this law is very important for every government institution to have an in-house auditor to check the balances.

The minister of finance Hon. Saad stated said that national financial management starts with the financial policy, and determines the financial plan defined by the government budget.

The speaker of parliament Hon. Abdirisak stated that when law is drafted, they need to be reviewed from time to time to add new things. It also assists in addressing the roles of different government departments.
