The Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Republic of Somaliland, in partnership with Save the Children, held a three-month-long coordination meeting focused on strengthening child protection efforts.
The meeting sought to improve cooperation among actors involved in child services, including those working directly in childcare and those addressing children’s issues indirectly. It also aimed to reinforce collaboration, coordination and information-sharing among different stakeholders, establish a sustainable system for data exchange, and respond to the challenges facing children in Somaliland. Priority issues affecting children were also central to the discussions.
The new approach builds on existing partnerships among service providers engaged directly in child welfare and those working indirectly on children’s affairs, with the goal of deepening joint action and mutual information-sharing.
The meeting was closed by Mrs. Sabaad Mohamed Aydiid, Director of the Family and Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family. She stressed the importance of strengthening child services and other initiatives that benefit children in Somaliland, noting that this requires stronger coordination and collaboration. She thanked all participants for their constructive engagement and commitment to serving Somaliland’s children.
