Hargeisa – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), has convened a high-level meeting with a delegation of politicians from the eastern districts of the Sanaag region, following their recent return to the country.
The President opened the discussions by extending a heartfelt welcome to the delegates, commending their decision to come back and reaffirming his appreciation for their willingness to engage constructively in the nation’s peacebuilding efforts, community reconciliation, and regional development initiatives.
The dialogue centered on advancing national cohesion, reinforcing security and social stability, and fostering a broad-based political consensus that serves the common good. The meeting was characterized by a shared commitment to strengthening the unity of the Somaliland people and charting a collective path toward a stable and prosperous future.
President Irro was accompanied by senior government officials, including members of the Council of Ministers, as well as the Chairman and Secretary of the National Peace Committee.
In his remarks, the President emphasized that the people of Somaliland transcend all regional and geographical divisions, describing them as one nation bound by a common identity, shared heritage, and indivisible destiny. He reaffirmed that his administration is resolutely dedicated to ensuring that every citizen—no matter their location—experiences a profound sense of belonging and equal ownership of the Republic.
He further outlined his government’s commitment to prioritizing social dialogue, grassroots reconciliation, and public safety, while calling upon all stakeholders to join in building a unified national vision grounded in mutual trust and collective responsibility.
Among the key figures playing a significant role in this effort was Eng. Farhan Giiri, a prominent leader from the Togdheer and Sool region, whose contributions were instrumental in facilitating the process
Responding on behalf of the delegation, the politicians thanked the President for his leadership and hospitality. They expressed their unwavering resolve to contribute meaningfully to national stability, community empowerment, and the continued strengthening of the Republic of Somaliland’s sovereignty and unity.
